Hikers at Darkwoods, BC (Photo by NCC)
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) welcomes visitors of all backgrounds and interests to enjoy nature on many of our properties in a variety of activities, including hiking, angling, birdwatching, bioblitzing and more. We strive to connect people's hearts and minds with nature, and hope that visitors leave with a sense of connection to the land.
Our lands are privately-owned and managed for conservation. Where access is permitted, visitors to NCC recreational areas do so at their own risk.
Please help nature thrive by respecting the following:
- Follow posted signage.
- Stay on designated trails.
- Pack out all garbage, including biodegradable waste.
- Be considerate of wildlife and fellow visitors.
- Properties are in a natural state and the ground may be slippery or uneven. Exercise caution.
To help you plan your visit to one of our properties, please contact your local NCC regional office for up-to-date visitor information. If you have an emergency on an NCC property that requires immediate attention, call 911.
No visitor-use lands
In some cases, a property may be unsuitable for recreational activities. NCC properties will be clearly signed when access is not allowed. Such restrictions may be in place for one or more of the following reasons:
- The ecological value of the property is identified as critical for conservation and could be negatively impacted by recreational activities.
- There is a public safety or community concern, or a government authority prohibits certain recreational activities.
- Access is against the wishes of the donor who solely enabled the securement of the property or donated the land.
