The many faces of ambassadorship

These NCC Ambassadors’ Circle members are finding unique ways to deliver impactful conservation results

There are as many ways to support NCC as there are ambassadors. Here are just a few examples of the unique contributions of our Ambassadors’ Circle members. Contact our staff support team at ambassadorscircle@natureconservancy.ca to explore how you can harness your unique strengths, connections and interests to deliver impactful conservation results.

Protecting critical environments across Canada is “an all-hands-on-deck enterprise,” says Ambassadors’ Circle member Cam Clark. So, when NCC hosted a media event in November 2024 to announce the purchase of 935 hectares of forests, wetlands and mesas near Thunder Bay, Ontario, Cam was on deck to help celebrate and answer questions about the importance of protected lands along Lake Superior’s north shore. The local resident and former NCC board member is a natural history buff and active outdoorsperson who looks for any opportunity “to continue to promote and celebrate the work of NCC, particularly in Northern Ontario.”

Bill Jones

Ambassadors’ Circle member, Atlantic Board member, Nature Legacy Society member and former National Board member

An NCC volunteer since 1991, Bill Jones has built a reputation as a “conservation connector.” He helped to bring together the people, places and resources to grow NCC’s conservation impact in Atlantic Canada, including the establishment of the Musquash Estuary Nature Reserve. As an Ambassadors’ Circle member, Bill continues to network and open doors, introducing NCC to donors, landowners and members of the New Brunswick provincial government. “It’s amazing what NCC can accomplish with the right vision,” he says. It’s also amazing what NCC can accomplish with Bill on the NCC team, protecting significant natural areas in perpetuity for Canada.

Nathalie Pratte

Ambassadors’ Circle Co-Chair, former Board Chair and Quebec Regional Advisory Board member

Nathalie Pratte is grateful to the many NCC donors who have made it their lifelong mission to protect nature. Her focus now and during her tenure as Board Chair is the countless others who have a love of nature and a capacity to give but have yet to be introduced to NCC. The Ambassadors’ Circle co-chair is helping NCC widen its network in Montreal, Quebec by identifying influential philanthropists and business leaders and encouraging them to engage with NCC for the first time. Inspired by Nathalie’s success, NCC is supporting other Ambassadors’ Circle members in similar pursuits across the Greater Toronto Area and Alberta and Saskatchewan regions.
