Our Work

With nature, we build a thriving world

At the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), we believe that when nature thrives, people thrive. The connection between people and the natural world is at the heart of everything we do. Together, we can build a future where both nature and communities flourish.

As Canada’s largest environmental charity, we deliver conservation results at an unmatched scale. From coast to coast to coast, we work on the land to restore and conserve healthy, resilient ecosystems where it matters most.

One of our top priorities is the Prairie Grasslands Action Plan. Prairie grasslands are vast, carbon-storing landscapes and among the most endangered ecosystems on Earth. NCC aims to conserve over 500,000 hectares by 2030 — a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to safeguard what remains.

Grassland stewards

Grasslands have sustained wildlife and people for thousands of years. Today, their ecological, cultural and economic importance continues. NCC proudly partners with Indigenous Peoples, ranchers, livestock producers, grazing groups, local communities and others to ensure these landscapes thrive.

Grazing is vital to grassland health. Cattle help create diverse habitat conditions that support a variety of wildlife. Through collaboration and support for best practices, we’re conserving biodiversity while strengthening rural economies. Learn more on our Working Landscapes page.

Hunting on NCC lands

Where it aligns with property management and donor wishes, hunting may be permitted. To learn more and request access in Saskatchewan, please visit our Information for hunters page.
