Purpose and Values

Our purpose

With nature, we build a thriving world.

The interconnection of people and nature is the Nature Conservancy of Canada's (NCC's) foundation; the idea that we are all one with nature. Together, through purposeful actions, we have the opportunity to build toward a greater good — a thriving world. Because when nature thrives, people thrive.

Our values

Equity, diversity and inclusion commitment statement

NCC is committed to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) as a core part of its mission to conserve nature for future generations. We believe nature must be accessible to all and recognize the need to engage underrepresented communities meaningfully. Our approach focuses on building an inclusive culture, leadership accountability, and continuous learning, grounded transformation that is inside-out, and change that starts at the top. We are committed to advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples through building ethical space and creating meaningful relationships with Indigenous Nations and communities. Furthermore, we acknowledge the importance of Indigenous-led conservation and support Indigenous-led efforts to conserve and steward their traditional territories.
